Frequently asked questions
A legacy interview is a professionally conducted audio recording of a person's life story, their memories, experiences, wisdom, and the stories they want preserved for family and future generations. At LifeVersations, every interview is conducted by a 30 year broadcast professional and delivered as a private podcast your family can listen to anywhere, forever.
The difference is the interviewer, and equipment. Anyone can press record. What takes 30 years to develop is knowing how to ask the right question at the right moment, how to follow a story where it naturally leads, and ask follow up questions that lead to greater insight. We use professional microphones and recording equipment. A LifeVersations interview is professionally conducted, recorded, edited, and produced, not a raw recording with substandard tools.
LifeVersations is based in Wenatchee, Washington and serves clients throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond. In-person interviews are available at any location, wherever you are most comfortable, with travel arrangements made in advance. Online interviews via Zoom are available to clients anywhere in the world.

You receive a privately hosted podcast link you can share with family and friends anywhere in the world, secure MP3 download files, and an AI generated written transcript of the full interview — all delivered within 14 business days of the recorded interview date.
At LifeVersations we put humans first. Every LifeVersations interview is conducted by Thom Kokenge (Hi!) a real human being with 30 years of professional broadcast experience. The conversation is between two people. AI is not involved in the interview itself. A written transcript is generated by AI after the fact as a convenience, but the interview, the conversation, the connection, the stories, is entirely human.
Anyone with a story worth preserving, which is everyone. Legacy interviews are especially meaningful for elderly parents and grandparents, retiring executives and community leaders, couples, veterans, pastors, founders, and anyone whose family wants to capture their voice and stories before time runs out. Every life is important and every lifetime is a story unto itself. Now let everyone hear it.
Yes — and it's one of the most meaningful gifts you can give. Many clients purchase a LifeVersations interview as a gift for an elderly parent, a grandparent's milestone birthday, or a family celebration. Contact us to discuss gifting options.

That's the most common concern families have, and it almost always disappears within the first few minutes of the conversation. Thom Kokenge has spent 30 years making people feel at ease on microphone. Every interview begins with simple, comfortable questions you already know the answers to that let the subject settle in naturally. There are no wrong answers, no pressure, and no topic is required. The subject is always in control. This is about them, not me.
